Mid-March Musings

Since last August we have been developing our assessment process for those wishing tutors for Higher and Advanced Higher Grade work, and it has been very encouraging that our "team-tagging" method - myself and a specialist subject tutor - seems to be proving extremely successful. 

We shall continue to seek to improve every single aspect of our service as we strive to give each and every client the very best of service.

I was reading that a Government Report has revealed that nurses' poor maths is putting patients' lives at risk.  Apparently in Lothian there is "widespread confusion" in the nursing sector over how to calculate correct dosage of powerful intravenous drugs. "STEP AHEAD means BUSINESS" will be looking to offer our expertise in basic numeracy problems, for example in metric units and calculator skills.

This week a "STEP AHEAD TOGETHER" primary-aged group is looking at aspects of algebra and equations, while a little lad still at primary school completed a Standard Grade Maths non-calculator paper almost without mistake, and several young secondary pupils scored very highly on Standard Grade English past papers.  Exciting times !
